The Ballast Foundation

Nobody puts on a live performance alone. Every artist on a public stage, from a local club to an amphitheater, has to keep their balance through a thousand different waves. Staying upright takes weight below the waterline. Nobody sees the ballast. Everybody sees the show.

The cost of producing a show, and the ticket prices needed to cover it, have put too many nights out of reach for both artists and the general public. No single kind of organization can fix that. It will take different structures and missions working together: nonprofits, promoters, public partners, and corporate & philanthropic partners.

The Ballast Foundation is where that work starts. We believe live rock and hip hop deserve the kind of philanthropic backing the ballet and symphony have spent decades building. The Ballast Foundation will support and fund working artists by coordinating the organizations and companies who want live music to remain part of our cultural keel.

How all of these pieces fit together is what we are building now, with the partners who want to help. Official launch winter 2027.
